Personality

Cherén is an excessively sweet and gentle Viera.He cherishes kindness above all else and will do his best at all times to help others and bring happiness to them. This silly bunny has a penchant for friendly mischief-making, and is sure to bring a smile to your face with his antics.He is a very skilled healer both magically and practically. Cherén can heal a wound using his skills as a scholar, or give you stitches and make medicine by hand. His magical talents focus on healing, the soul, and spirits.Hand in hand with his medicine making, Cherén loves gardening and planting. He makes specialized medicine with a rare plant raised by his tribe called "Chasia."Cherén has an affinity for seeing and speaking with both spirits and fae and enjoys their company greatly. Although he values their friendship, he's quick to warn others against their tricky nature.Speaking of tricky spirits, Cherén has a familiar named Chichan who takes the form of a white bunny, and is seen accompanying him at almost every waking moment. The bunny has been known to get into his own sort of trouble, but also to perform oddly powerful magic and heal others.His favorite things are sweets, animals, pink, bunnies, fae, and spirits.

• Doman Nobility

Cheren's family, led by his father Wu Zhao, were high-ranking nobility in Doma before the occupation. His father attended gathering of the imperial court and expected Cheren to do so when he came of age. Cheren would have occassionally made appearances in the Doman court.Perhaps you knew his father, the status of their family, or recognize him from his odd appearance as the family's sickly heir.

• Doman Refugee

When Doma fell, Wu Zhao was hesitant to uproot the family and move. However, as tensions built, they would eventually flee Doma for Eorzea to avoid the war. Cheren speaks Doman and Hingan thanks to their time there, and although he is fluent in common, he has a noticeable Doman accent. He also still engages with the customs of his home culture, and has some mannerisms that mark him as different.Perhaps you recognize his accent, need a translator, or have questions about his odd mannerisms.

• Healer & Physician

Cheren is a skilled healer and physician. He can heal you with or without magic and is a skilled apothecary. He is eager to help all and any who need help. He cultivates rare flowers and makes his own medicines which he goes and trades at local markets.Perhaps you are in need of a healer for some dangerous mission and noticed his affinity, or bought some of his medicines or salves from the market. Mayhap you are injured and in need of healing, or seeking a cure to a rare condition.

• Follower of Menphina

In accordance with the traditions of his tribe, the Leporis, Cheren is a devoted follower of Menphina. He regularly offers prayers to her and decorates himself and his home with lunar imagery. He claims that both his magic and his familiar, Chichan, are tied to her and the flux of the moon.Perhaps you can feel the strong influence of Menphina's ice on his aether, or recognize the touch of the divine on him. Maybe you just really like the moon, or you also worship the moon mother. Or perhaps you despise Menphina, and scorn those who follow her.

• Necromancy & Undead

Although Cheren looks very sweet and innocent, he is in fact a Necromancer.
Soul magic is his main specialty, secondary to healing. Although he is capable of animating corpses, his studies focus on the pursuit of true resurrection with the aim to revive his first fiancee, Elatha. Cheren views Necromancy as a form of healing, and pursues the art in this way. He is extremely educated in the body both living and dead. Undead do not frighten him at all, regardless of their present state of decay.If you are astute, perhaps you can sense the faintest hint of necromatic energy upon him. Maybe you are a mortician, or an adventurer seeking help dealing with the undead. Although Cheren tries to keep his connection to necromancy hushed, he does not shy about his comfort with corpses and undead.

• Souls & Spirits

Cheren was born with the unique ability to see ghosts and spirits. As he has had this ability for as long as he can remember, he is rarely started by them. In fact, he finds himself far more comfortable with spirits, demons, and supernatural beings of all sorts. He cannot see all ghosts, as not everyone's soul lingers behind after death, and although he is sensitive to aether, he does not have the gift of soul-sight that was common among the ancients.
Spirits that realize he can see them may choose to conceal themselves from him, but he does view those who are not taking such precautions. He sees the dead in various forms, sometimes sentient and sometimes reflections of the past or wisps.
Sometimes, he doesn't even know he's talking to the dead until others remark he is takling to nothing...
Cheren is not only capable of seeing these beings, but of speaking and interacting with them. This poses a danger to him, however, as this makes him much easier to poseess.Perhaps you would like to speak with someone who is passed, or have a spirit companion that notices they are being watched... Perhaps you are a ghost or spirit who has finally made contact... Or maybe you're looing for someone to possess.

According to Cherén, Chichan can take any form he desires, but prefers this.Cherén and Chichan have been together for as long as he can remember, souls tied together by a magic bond. Chichan is known for being at his side almost every minute, hopping around, stealing snacks, and causing mischief.Chichan has been shown to have many interesting abilities, including the ability to heal via bunny purrs. If you look at just the right time, you might also catch the bunny manifesting in different locations at will.Cherén can call upon Chichan at will, summoning or dismissing him as needed. He also has a telepathic tie to the bunny, and often relates to people messages from the celestial bunny....According to Cherén, Chichan is responsible for the fall of Dalamud, and bears the title of "The Destroyer."

Backstory

Cherén comes from a unique mixed lineage of both Viera and Au'ra.Cherén's mother, Yingyué, belonged to the Leporis tribe of viera. Having long since left her tribal lands, she eventually came to marry Zhao, an Au'ra whose family had also left their homelands and become highly ranking nobles of Yanxia.Before the occupation, Cherén grew up in Yanxia with his father and mother.Although perhaps surprising to some, Zhao had his own harem of mistresses along with his "official" wife, Yingyué. Despite this harem, there would only be two children bestowed to Zhao that lived to maturity. Cherén, and his beloved younger sister, Xishi.Cherén takes almost entirely after his mother due to their unique lineage, while his sister Xishi shows their Au'Ra heritage proudly.During childhood, Cherén was incredibly close with his parents. However, after the loss of his mother, relations with his Father and the responsibility and expectations of maturity began to sour things.Some time after his mother's passing, the family would flee Yanxia and the Garlean occupation, settling down in Eorzea.

The Leporis

Cherén originates from a small off-shoot tribe of Viera that have been almost entirely eradicated. As far as he knows, he is the last living descendant of this tribe.His mother, the last of her kind before Cherén, had the foresight to leave their emptied lands and take up the offer to marry into a noble Au'ra family of Yanxia.His mother passed onto him the history and teachings of their tribe as best as she could before her passing.They were a small group of Viera that carried a unique lineage, causing all of them to be born with a distinct lack of melanin, making them albino.
Due to this, they have extreme sensitivities to the sun and trouble seeing in bright light. All offspring of this tribe present with snowy white hair and pink or reddish-hued eyes, regardless of their other parent's lineage.This tribe called themselves the "Leporis", and believed themselves to be descended from a servant of Menphina, goddess of love and the moon.According to the Leporis, you can still see the image of Menphina's servant on the face of the moon, whom they call Lepus, and take their name from. They say that Lepus created ancient medicines and potions on the moon for the goddess, and believe he gifted Saint Mocianne the herbs she used to concoct her remedies.Cherén still follows the traditions from their tribe, worshipping the goddess Menphina and the moon itself.He cherishes lunar imagery, bunnies, and strives to bring Love to everything and everyone around him.
